Support for underrepresented groups
CUT is dedicated to promoting the well-being and development of its community, with a strong emphasis on supporting underrepresented groups. To empower students facing socioeconomic challenges, such as those from low-income families, or students with disabilities or severe health issues, the University provides financial and social assistance based on specific socioeconomic criteria. These include:
- Financial aid (cash and/or food vouchers) provided directly or through the Student Welfare Association.
- Free daily lunches offered in collaboration with the Bishopric of Limassol, located near the University.
- Housing support, including housing allowances or subsidised accommodation at approximately 50% of the actual cost, based on well-defined socioeconomic criteria.
- Scholarships and financial aid from the Student Welfare Association: In academic year 2022-23, 287 undergraduate students benefited from these scholarships.
- Tuition fee exemptions for Master’s and PhD students: 24 postgraduate students received this support in academic year 2022-23.
- Employment opportunities within the University.
CUT also provides services to improve educational access and personal growth for students from diverse backgrounds and experiences. These include a preparatory Greek language year for international undergraduates and a wide range of support services through the Center of Student Development, such as counselling, assistance for students with disabilities or chronic illnesses, dyslexia support, group tutoring, and more.
