Sustainable food choices on campus
CUT ensures access to sustainable food choices for all on campus, including vegetarian and vegan options, promoting responsible and environmentally conscious food consumption in line with SDG 2: Zero Hunger.
Limassol Campus – Main Campus Catering and Meal Support
CUT promotes sustainable food options to students and staff through its collaboration with Zorbas Ltd, the operator of the main campus cafeteria.
The cafeteria offers a variety of balanced, locally sourced meals, including vegetarian and vegan options, prepared with an emphasis on freshness and reduced environmental impact. It applies sustainability principles described in the provider’s Environmental and Organic Waste Management Policy, including the use of seasonal and local ingredients and the minimisation of single-use plastics in food service operations, supporting environmentally responsible consumption on campus. These sustainability practices complement and reinforce the availability of sustainable menu options for the university community.
In addition, in cooperation with the Holy Metropolis of Limassol, which prepares and distributes free meals to students in need, the University ensures that menus include balanced and sustainable choices, such as vegetarian dishes and plant-based meals.
This initiative is grounded in resource efficiency, community solidarity, and social responsibility.
Furthermore, CUT’s central location in Limassol provides students and staff with easy access to numerous cafés and restaurants within walking distance, many of which offer vegetarian and vegan options, further supporting inclusive access to sustainable food choices for the entire university community.
