Wastewater treatment

The wastewater generated at CUT is discharged into the central sewage system of the cities of Limassol and Paphos, as  documented on the  dedicated webpage of the Environmental Policy Office of CUT, where it undergoes treatment at the respective central wastewater treatment plants, in compliance with all environmental protection and public health standards based on the Directive (EU) 2024/3019. The treated wastewater is mainly being reused for irrigation purposes, including agriculture and horticulture. Therefore, CUT is actively supporting and participating in the wastewater reuse policy of the Cyprus government, which promotes sustainable development and the adoption of environmentally friendly practices.
