Employment practice living wage
CUT ensures that all employees and faculty members receive at least the national living wage, in full compliance with Cyprus labour legislation and the national public- sector payroll framework. According to the Department of Labour Relations of the Ministry of Labour and Social Insurance (Republic of Cyprus), every full-time employee must receive an initial monthly gross wage of at least €1,000, representing the full-time equivalent wage for part-time work.
As a public law entity, CUT applies the official Cyprus Public Service salary scales, ensuring that all salaries remain consistent with national labour standards and public-sector remuneration policies. For the year 2024, the lowest annual net salary at CUT (Salary Scale A1) was €15,051, corresponding to a monthly net salary of €1,158 (€15,051 ÷ 13). The lowest hourly rate at CUT (Salary Scale A1) was €9.17, which is above both the national minimum and the national living wage thresholds. For comparison, the national lowest hourly rate for 2024, as defined by the Department of Labour Relations, was €7.29, meaning that CUT’s base hourly compensation exceeds the official minimum by approximately 26%.
By maintaining salaries at or above the national living wage, CUT guarantees fair and decent compensation for all employees and faculty members, reaffirming its institutional commitment to decent work, fair pay, employee wellbeing, and social sustainability.
