Employment practice appeal process

CUT provides all members of its academic and administrative staff with the right and means to appeal on matters related to employee rights and/or pay, ensuring fairness, transparency, and accountability in employment practices.

CUT has established a formal and easily accessible Appeal Submission Procedure, available electronically to all employees through the Human Resources Service portal. Any staff member may submit an appeal concerning the violation of labour rights- including, but not limited to, the right to fair remuneration, safe working conditions, leave entitlements, collective bargaining, and protection from harassment.

All appeals are initially reviewed by the Head of Human Resources Services. Requests of a confidential or sensitive nature are handled personally by the Head of HR and, where necessary, escalated to the Rector for further action. Other cases are either managed directly by the Human Resources Service or referred to the Personnel, Recruitment and Promotions & Regulations Committee (ΕΠΠΠΚΚ) for examination and resolution in a timely and impartial manner. Due process and equal treatment are ensured throughout all stages of the review.

Part A of the Committee’s Terms of Reference explicitly outlines employees’ right to appeal, ensuring that all complaints are formally reviewed, documented, and communicated transparently. The Committee evaluates each case based on the University’s internal regulations and national labour law, submitting recommendations or corrective measures to the competent University authorities for implementation.

In addition, staff may submit appeals or requests through their recognised trade unions, which can present such matters to the ΕΠΠΠΚΚ for review. These discussions occur in the presence of the Administrative Staff Representative, ensuring inclusive participation and fair representation in decision-making processes.

Through these mechanisms, CUT guarantees a safe, confidential, and transparent process that enables all staff to raise concerns, seek redress, and protect their employment rights. In conclusion, the University’s appeal framework reflects its strong institutional commitment to fairness, respect for human rights, and the continuous improvement of staff welfare and governance practices.
