- Title: Investigating the development of students’ Personal Data literacy competencies
- Acronym: PeDaLcomp
- Funding framework: RIF / RESTART 2021-2026
- Abstract: The PeDaLcomp project is a research initiative aimed at advancing personal data literacy (PeDaL) among elementary school students through innovative educational tools and methodologies. Rooted in the PeDaL framework, this project responds to the urgent need to equip young learners with essential competencies to navigate, manage, and ethically engage with personal digital data in today’s data-driven world. Key objectives of the PeDaLcomp project include validating and refining the PeDaL framework, designing and implementing two distinct learning environments – a Technology-Enhanced Learning Environment using activity trackers, and a web-based platform with data visualization tools; and creating a grade-specific rubric demonstrating competence development among different age populations. Pedagogical, student-centered approaches, such as gamification, inquiry-based learning, and scaffolding are systematically evaluated to determine their effectiveness in fostering personal data literacy. Through design-based research, PeDaLcomp aims to produce tangible outcomes: validated educational frameworks, pedagogical insights, and scalable technological solutions. These efforts are expected to significantly enhance educational practices, ensuring that elementary school students acquire the critical skills necessary to responsibly navigate the complexities of personal data in the digital age. Ultimately, the PeDaLcomp project aims to contribute not only to the advancement of personal data literacy in educational settings, but also to the broader understanding of how emerging technologies can be effectively integrated into pedagogical practices to prepare future generations for a data-driven society.

- Title: Detection of Language and/or Literacy Disorders in multilingual children and Good Educational Practices
- Acronym: MultiLLDs
- Funding framework: ERASMUS+
- Abstract: The MultiLLDs project is a testament to our commitment to inclusivity in education. It is a collaborative effort that merges Educational Linguistics, Language Education, and Language/Literacy Disorders, focusing on multilingual education. The project is designed to equip a wide range of educators, including kindergarten and elementary teachers, foreign language teachers, speech therapists, and special education teachers, with resources to detect language and/or literacy difficulties (LLDs) and distinguish these from language differences. By including such a diverse group of educators, we ensure that no child is left behind. The project seeks to effectively develop strategies for managing such issues, further reinforcing our commitment to inclusive education.
The primary objectives of the MultiLLDs project are crucial steps towards a more inclusive and effective education system. The first objective is to create questionnaires that will empower educators to identify and differentiate LLDs in preschool (4-6 years) and school-age children (6-9 years) from linguistic differences in multilingual settings. The second objective is to develop a handbook of good educational practices, offering teaching materials and language and literacy enhancement strategies, specifically targeting children with LLDs. These objectives are not just tasks, but the keys to unlocking the potential of every child in our education system.

- Title: Empathy and Sustainability: The Art of Thinking like a Mountain
- Acronym: EMPACT
- Funding framework: Creative Europe (CREA)
- Abstract: The EMPACT Training Curriculum on Empathy and Sustainability Pathways for Arts explores the role of empathetic responses in motivating artists and cultural practitioners to explore ways to tackle the key pillars of sustainability. It is the result of a dialogue between artists, sustainability experts, philosophers, and social scientists, aiming to explore the importance of empathy as a key to aiding people to tackle and act upon climate change. It is the culmination of collaborative efforts between experts from the Cyprus University of Technology (CUT, Cyprus) and the National Academy for Theatre and Film Arts (NATFA, Bulgaria). Tailored for artists engaged in visual, fine, and performative arts, as well as professionals within creative industries, museum and cultural organization managers, curators, and art theorists, this curriculum serves as a comprehensive learning tool designed to empower and inspire individuals across diverse art-related disciplines. The curriculum is divided into three modules: «Empathy for Human and Non-human Beings», demonstrating how empathy as an abstract concept can be applied in the arts, «Creative Sustainability,» delving into both the theoretical underpinnings and practical manifestations of sustainability within artistic practices, and «Empathic and Resilient Artists,» equipping cultural practitioners with the tools and insights necessary to align their artistic endeavors with corporate art initiatives.
The project initiates a dialogue between artists, sustainability experts, philosophers and social scientists, in order to explore the importance of empathy as a key to aid people tackle and act upon climate change. In that scope, it lies on two interconnected pillars: (1) The facilitation of artists to produce, through sustainable practices, art that fosters an empathic stance towards non-human beings and nature, and thus effectively incorporate the concept of sustainability in their artistic production; (2) The necessity for artists and cultural workers to become empathic and resilient individuals in order to deal with the post-pandemic social and economic crisis.
