Training on environmental aspects of sustainability

CUT provides mandatory annual training on environmental aspects of sustainability for staff and students through various initiatives.

All new staff and students receive sustainability training during their induction, including a session by the CUT Green Office, which covers essential environmental aspects of sustainability, raising awareness about the University’s environmental policies, practices, and initiatives. The Green Office also offers annual refresher sessions to reinforce environmental best practices.

CUT provides introductory training for newly recruited administrative staff on workplace safety and risk prevention. Annual health and safety training covers key areas such as workplace, fire, and lab safety for all staff. Under its ISO 45001-accredited system, CUT also delivers targeted sustainability training to ensure a safe, legally compliant, and environmentally responsible work environment.

The Human Resources Services (HRS) organises annual sustainability training in collaboration with external partners. In 2023–2024, in collaboration with the Cyprus Productivity Centre, it ran seminars on Developing a Modern Professional Culture including Green Growth and Environment.

Additionally, the Learning Development Network (LDN) delivers a mandatory session, & Education to and for Sustainability,& for new academic staff. This session encourages the integration of sustainability into teaching and research, promotes environmental awareness among students, and aligns with CUT’s sustainability goals.
