CUT offers a comprehensive framework of access schemes for people with disabilities, ensuring equal opportunities and full participation in academic and social life. At the core of this commitment is the Action Plan for Equal Access for Persons with Disabilities and
Persons with Special Educational Needs, which outlines four strategic goals:
- Fostering an inclusive and open organizational culture;
- Ensuring accessible, flexible, and inclusive education with equal support for participation;
- Guaranteeing safe and accessible physical and digital infrastructures; and
- Attracting and retaining staff with disabilities.
To implement these goals, CUT provides targeted support schemes through two key units:
- The Center of Student Development delivers individualised support tailored to students with disabilities or chronic illnesses. This includes mentoring, counselling, psychotherapeutic services, and practical academic accommodations such as text enlargement and translation, exam transcription, special equipment, dedicated study spaces, individual tutoring, and more.
- The Diversity & Inclusion Office works to remove accessibility barriers and promote a culture of respect, belonging, and diversity across all university services and infrastructure. It also provides mentoring opportunities led by older students who have disabilities themselves, offering peer support and shared experiences to help foster confidence and inclusion.
Through these initiatives, CUT demonstrates a strong commitment to accessibility, inclusivity, and the empowerment of individuals with disabilities across the university community.
