Equality committee and Diversity and inclusion office

CUT has both an Equality Committee and a Diversity and Inclusion Office that are formally tasked by the administration to advise on and implement policies, programmes, and training related to diversity, equity, inclusion, and human rights on campus.

The Equality Committee serves as an advisory body to the Rector and works to enhance the University’s performance in equality, diversity, and inclusion across three main pillars: policy making, consultation and support, and awareness-raising. Its work contributes to embedding inclusive values into all aspects of university life.

The Diversity and Inclusion Office, which reports directly to the Rector, supports the empowerment of the university community through actions that foster respect, promote understanding, and integrate diversity into the university culture. The Office collaborates closely with the Equality Committee to develop and implement institutional policies, action plans, and practical tools – such as the inclusive language guide -to ensure equal opportunities and support for all members of the university.

The Diversity and Inclusion Office also represents CUT within the European University of Technology (EUt+) alliance, contributing to the establishment of the EUt+ Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) Office, which promotes collaboration and alignment of EDI policies across the nine partner universities in Europe.

In collaboration with the Equality Committee, the Office undertakes a range of initiatives to raise awareness and foster understanding within the university community on issues of equality, diversity, inclusion, and human rights. These efforts include the organisation of public events and internal training sessions aimed at promoting a more inclusive and supportive campus environment.
