CUT has established a dedicated institutional structure to advance sustainable development through the Office of Sustainable Development, created in 2025 and operating under the direct supervision of the Rector.
The Office serves as the central coordinating body for sustainability, responsible for promoting awareness, guiding implementation, and ensuring the strategic integration of sustainability principles across all university operations. It functions as a horizontal mechanism that aligns and coordinates sustainability-related actions, enhances institutional coherence, and supports decision-making processes in line with the University’s 2030 Strategic Plan and the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
CUT’s sustainability efforts are supported through close collaboration between the Office of Sustainable Development and several specialised units and structures that address different dimensions of the SDGs and promote multi-stakeholder engagement:
- Office of Environmental Policy (Green Office)– responsible for environmental management, sustainable operational practices, and sustainability awareness actions across the University.
- Diversity and Inclusion Office– reports to the Rector and promotes equality, accessibility, and support for all members of the university community, embedding inclusive practices in institutional governance and culture.
- Equality Committee– advisory body to the Rector on equality, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) matters, supporting inclusive policies and practices across all University activities.
- Learning Development Network (LDN)– enhances the educational experience and promotes innovative teaching practices, supporting the integration of sustainability and SDG-related themes into curricula.
- CUT SDGs Committee– brings together academic, administrative, and student representatives to promote awareness, coordinate actions, and submit proposals aligned with the UN 17 Sustainable Development Goals.
- Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Policy – reinforces CUT’s commitment to social sustainability through partnerships with students, staff, local communities, and wider society.
As part of its core responsibilities, the Office has compiled the University’s Sustainability Report (2020-2025), documenting institutional actions, progress, and impact in relation to sustainable development. This report strengthens transparency, monitoring, and accountability, and supports continuous improvement of sustainability performance.
Through this integrated governance model, CUT ensures that sustainability is systematically embedded across teaching, research, operations, and community engagement, while enhancing coordination, accountability, and institutional impact
