Scope 1: Direct greenhouse gas emissions from the organization’s infrastructure and fleet.
This includes consumption of oil/petrol/natural gas/biofuels/wood etc. for energy production within the infrastructure (whether for heating/cooling, electricity or other processes) and for the fleet. Also included are other greenhouse gases produced within the organization, such as fluorinated gases from air conditioners or other gases from laboratory processes.
Emission source: Vehicle fleet
- Methods of reduction and compensation: (1) Gradual reduction in the number of vehicles and their replacement with vehicles with the lowest possible emissions, (2) Gradual finding of ways to reduce and compensate for the remaining pollutants.
- Implementation timetable (pollutant elimination) at the University: 2030
- Implementation timetable (pollutant elimination) for the Race to zero: 2030
Emission source: Boilers/generators
- Methods of reduction and compensation: (1) Complete removal, where possible, and replacement of the remaining ones with systems that emit lower pollutants, (2) Gradual finding of ways to reduce and compensate for the remaining pollutants.
- Implementation timetable (pollutant elimination) at the University: 2030
- Implementation timetable (pollutant elimination) for the Race to zero: 2030
Emission source: Refrigerators/coolers
- Methods of reduction and compensation: (1) Replacement with equipment that emits as little pollution as possible, (2)Gradually finding ways to reduce and offset the remaining pollutants
- Implementation timetable (pollutant elimination) at the University: 2030
- Implementation timetable (pollutant elimination) for the Race to zero: 2030

Scope 2: Energy purchased for the organization’s needs.
This can be both electricity and cooling/heating if applicable.
Electricity use
- Methods of reduction and compensation: Completion of a Photovoltaic park to offset all emissions generated by the use of electricity from the grid. Implementing of the project has started.
- Implementation timetable (pollutant elimination) at the University: 2027
- Implementation timetable (pollutant elimination) for the Race to zero: 2030
Scope 3: Indirect greenhouse gas emissions of the organization
This includes: transportation of employees/users to and from the organization, air flights for the organization’s needs, emissions from waste generated in the organization, emissions generated by suppliers for the production of products produced by the organization, and even the organization’s investments
