CUT ensures the provision of healthy and affordable food choices for all members of its campus community, supporting nutritional well-being, health, and inclusivity, while promoting equitable and affordable access to nutritious food.
On the Limassol campus, the centrally located Zorbas café-restaurant offers a wide range of freshly prepared, nutritious and affordable meals, including salads, yogurt-based dishes, fresh juices, and light meals at student-friendly prices. Vegetarian and vegan options are also available, supporting inclusive dietary needs. Food preparation follows recognised quality and safety standards, ensuring consistent access to safe and balanced meals.
CUT further supports students facing socio-economic challenges through the provision of free, healthy daily meals, offered in collaboration with the Bishopric of Limassol. Approximately 30% of students benefit annually from this initiative according to Student Welfare records, which is coordinated by the University’s Service for Academic Affairs and Student Welfare, ensuring fair and dignified access to nutritious food.
Due to the University’s central location, students and staff also benefit from nearby cafés and restaurants offering student and staff discounts, many of which include healthy menu options, extending affordable food access beyond campus.
At the Paphos campus, the Academy of Hospitality and Tourism Training Restaurant provides affordable, nutritionally balanced meals prepared by students as part of their training. This provision is guided by the “Healthy and Affordable Food Choices Policy” of the Academy, ensuring that meals are offered at cost-level pricing, include balanced and nutritious options, are prepared using fresh and seasonal ingredients, and cater to diverse dietary needs. Weekly themed menus, inspired by international cuisines, are offered with additional discounts for CUT students, ensuring accessibility, quality, and inclusivity.
In addition, CUT supports its staff through formal discount agreements (typically 10–20%) with local food providers, as well as reduced pricing schemes for essential food products through supermarket partnerships, enhancing access to affordable food for the wider university community.
Through a combination of on-campus facilities, subsidised meals, and local partnerships, CUT demonstrates a strong institutional commitment to providing accessible, healthy, and affordable food options for both students and staff.
