International level: 

(a)    Dr Ekaterini Lambrinou (Dept Nursing) is a Member of the Advocacy Committee of the European Society of Cardiology for 2018 -2020 and several other committees of the same organization. She has also Chaired the Board of the Association of Cardiovascular Nursing and Allied Professions of the European Society of Cardiology (2018 -2020) and a Member of the International Committee of the Council on Cardiovascular nursing and Stroke, American Heart Association, American Stroke Association for 2016-2020. Furthermore, she is a Member of the Palliative Care Task Force, Heart Failure association, ESC, 2018- 2022, Member of the Education and Digital Health Committee, Heart Failure association, ESC, 2018- 2022. Through several Task Forces related to these affiliations, Dr Lambrinou and the University contributed during 2019 and 2020 toward the development and publishing of several Position Statements and Guidelines for the management of cardiovascular disease, heart failure, diabetes, dyslipidemia and so on. These reports and publications are used and cited internationally

(b)    In 2020, Dr Andreas Charalambous (Dept Nursing, CUT) was elected President of the European Cancer Organization and President of the European Nursing Organization of Oncology (https://cancernurse.eu/). The European Cancer Organization (www.europeancancer.org/) is the largest interdisciplinary organization (not-for-profit) of health professionals with over 31 members from professional organizations and more than 20 patient organizations (European Patient Advisory Committee members). The election of Dr. Charalambous to the highest position of the European Cancer Organization is an important distinction for Cyprus and the University but also for Nursing Oncology in general, since this is the first time in the 30 years of the Organization’s life that a Nurse was elected in this position.

(c)     European Observatory on Femicide: A lasting collaboration which resulted from the Femicide across Europe project was the establishment   of the European Observatory on Femicide (EOF)- a network of country research groups in Europe and Israel. CUT is a partner in the Observatory and coordination rotates among the partners. In 2020, CUT and the Institute for Empirical Sociology at the University of Erlangen-Nurnberg shared the coordination (SDG 3, 4, 5 and 10. Also SDG 17)

(d)    CUT, Department of Nursing (Dr Christiana Kouta) is the country representative in the European Transcultural Nursing organization. ETNA promotes co-operation among all members and experts for the exchange of ideas to promote transcultural nursing research and education, focusing on principles of equitable quality care, human rights and culturally competent care within a holistic framework given the socio-cultural diversity of people living in an increasingly global community.
