Anti-discrimination and anti-harassment policies

CUT has established a comprehensive institutional framework of anti-discrimination and anti-harassment policies, ensuring a safe, inclusive, and equitable environment for all members of the university community.

CUT’s anti-discrimination policy is embedded within its Equality and Accessibility Plan, which sets out strategic objectives and measures to ensure equal opportunities and prevent discrimination across all university activities, including a dedicated pillar on zero tolerance for discrimination, harassment, sexual harassment, and gender-based violence. The framework applies to students, academic and administrative staff, and external collaborators, promoting fairness, dignity, and respect regardless of gender, ethnicity, religion, disability, age, sexual orientation, or other personal characteristics. It is supported by complementary initiatives such as the Inclusive Language Guide, which promotes respectful and non-discriminatory communication across the institution.

In parallel, CUT has adopted a Code of Practice for Preventing and Combating Bullying, Harassment, and Sexual Harassment, which constitutes the University’s core anti-harassment policy. The Code defines prohibited behaviours in line with national and EU legislation and establishes clear procedures for prevention, reporting, and resolution of incidents. It ensures confidentiality, protection from retaliation, and immediate support for affected individuals, while promoting training and awareness on equality and respectful conduct.

These policies are further reinforced by the Student Ombud, which provides independent, confidential, and impartial support to students experiencing discrimination, harassment, or unfair treatment, ensuring transparency and accountability in institutional processes.

This framework is implemented and monitored through the University’s dedicated Equality Committee and Diversity and Inclusion Office, ensuring coherence between policy and practice.

Through this integrated policy framework, CUT demonstrates a strong commitment to preventing discrimination, addressing harassment, and promoting equality, diversity, inclusion, and human rights across all areas of university life.
