CUT provides comprehensive and structured support services for people with disabilities through its dedicated Center of Student Development, which operates as the University’s primary Disability Support Office. The Center serves as the central point of contact for students with disabilities or chronic health conditions, ensuring equal access to academic life and university services while providing an inclusive and accessible learning environment through personalised and needs-based support.
The Center offers tailored assistance to students with a wide range of disability-related needs, including visual and hearing impairments, mobility difficulties, chronic illnesses, and psychological or learning challenges. Support is delivered through an individualised and collaborative approach involving students, academic staff, and administrative services, ensuring an inclusive and equitable academic experience and supporting equal participation and academic success.
Key services provided include:
- Mobility support across campus through trained attendants
- Text enlargement, translation, and transcription services for examinations
- Provision of assistive technologies and specialised equipment (e.g., adapted keyboards)
- Academic accommodations such as deadline extensions, alternative assessment arrangements, and access to quiet study spaces
- Individual tutoring support delivered by trained staff or advanced-year students
- Additional personalised measures based on individual needs and medical documentation
Support services are activated through documented notification and direct engagement with the Center, ensuring timely, appropriate, and confidential support. In the academic year 2024-2025, the Center provided support to 213 students, demonstrating the scale and active use of these services.
Complementing these services, the Diversity and Inclusion Office plays a strategic role in promoting accessibility and inclusion across the University. It works to identify and remove barriers related to accessibility across physical infrastructure, digital platforms, and learning environments, while supporting inclusive policies and practices that ensure equal participation of people with disabilities in academic and social life.
Through this integrated model- combining dedicated support services with institutional-level accessibility planning- CUT demonstrates a strong and ongoing commitment to inclusion, equal opportunities, and the full participation of people with disabilities across all aspects of university life.
