Research centre focused on sustainability

The ERATOSTHENES Centre of Excellence, established via the H2020 EXCELSIOR project, is an autonomous Digital Innovation Hub at CUT, with over 70 FTE staff. Specialising in Earth Observation (EO), space technology, and geospatial analysis, it supports Cyprus’ sustainable development and the European Research Area. Operating CARO and developing Cyprus’ first EO Data Acquisition Station, ERATOSTHENES participates in over 30 projects on climate resilience, water management, AI for disaster monitoring, sustainable agriculture, cultural heritage, land degradation, air quality, coastal erosion, biodiversity, and education – supporting SDGs 2, 4, 6, 9, 11, 13, 15, and 17 – across Cyprus and the EMMENA region.
