CUT has established a dedicated Sustainability Committee (Committee for the UN 17 Sustainable Development Goals- SDGs), formed in 2021 to support the integration of sustainability across all university operations.
The Committee comprises representatives from the academic, administrative, and student communities, ensuring a participatory and inclusive approach to sustainability governance. It is coordinated by the Rector’s Academic Advisor on Sustainability Matters. The Committee operates under the oversight of the Rector and reports to the University’s executive leadership, ensuring alignment with institutional strategy and decision-making processes.
The Committee plays a central role in promoting sustainability by:
- advancing awareness and engagement with the UN 17 SDGs
- organising training activities and awareness initiatives
- conducting analyses and submitting proposals to the Rectorate
- supporting the integration of sustainability into academic, operational, and community activities
In addition, the Committee has contributed to the development and implementation of the University’s Policy for the 17 SDGs, reinforcing CUT’s institutional commitment to environmental responsibility, social impact, and sustainable development.
Through its structure and activities, the Committee ensures a coordinated, institution-wide approach to sustainability, supported by both leadership oversight and cross-community participation.
